Coniferous forests prevail. Fauna of the region is quite rich and diverse.
In the region there are more than 120 thousand big and small rivers with overall length - 541 thousand km. Main river of the region is the Amur. Its length - 4,440 km. There are 55 thousand big and small lakes.
